Invitation: The Organizing Committee of the Second International Conference on Scientific Research Cooperation between Vietnam and Poland in Earth Sciences (VIET-POL 2015) is very delighted to invite you participating in this Conference, which will held in Hanoi, Vietnam from 05th – 06th of November 2015. The Conference is an excellent opportunity to share experiences and to stimulate and enhance scientific research cooperation and training in Earth sciences, geologicalresources, mining, new technology in geosciences and applied materials science, etc.

INVITATION

The Organizing Committee of the Second International Conference on Scientific Research Cooperation between Vietnam and Poland in Earth Sciences (VIET-POL 2015) is very delighted to invite you participating in this Conference, which will held in Hanoi, Vietnam from 05th – 06th of November 2015.

The Conference is an excellent opportunity to share experiences and to stimulate and enhance scientific research cooperation and training in Earth sciences, geologicalresources, mining, new technology in geosciences and applied materials science, etc.

The Conference will focus on the following themes and sections:

Theme 1 (VP-01): Geology will cover all aspect of regional geology, stratigraphy, paleontology, petrology, structural geology and tectonic evolution, geo-engineering and geo-technique, prospecting and exploration of groundwater resources, treatement of water and soil pollution, natural resources exploration and evaluation.

Theme 2 (VP-02): Surveying and Mapping will specialize in topographical surveying and least square adjustment, engineering surveying, mine surveying, geodesy, global positioning system, photogrammetry and remote sensing, geographical information systems, cartography, and land surveying.

Theme 3 (VP-03): Geophysics will focus on the geophysics of sedimentary basins, interpretation of geophysical data of well-loggings, technology and applications of materials sciences.

Theme 4 (VP-04): Mining and Electro-Mechanics will identify the improvement of electrification and automation process in solid mineral resource exploration for mining, improvement of sollutions for mining and mechanization.

Theme 5 (VP-05): General Education will discuss integrated methodology and approaches including natural and social sciences, policies, multidisciplinary collaboration, education for cooperation possibilities in education and scienctific research between Vietnam and Poland.

Besides the above scientific themes, a two-day, post-conference field excursion to explore the unique geological diversity of a World’s Biosphere Reserve – Cat Ba Island, will also be organized.  

The organizers look forward to receiving contributions of experts and specialists from Vietnam, Poland and worldwide for sustainable development of cooperation between Vietnam and Poland in Earth Sciences.

Field trips

A post conference 2-day field excursion is organized to explore the unique geological diversity of a World’s Biosphere Reserve – Cat Ba Island.

Conference language

During the conference as well as during the Opening and Closing Ceremonies the official language will be English.

Conference Equipment

Oral presentation will be prepared in the form of computer-based electronic presentation. Presenters are encouraged to make their presentations in the form of Microsoft PowerPoint presentation format. Projectors and computers will be provided at the presentation room.

Stand-boards will be available for poster presentation. One 100X160 cm board is provided for each presentation.

Assess to internet and e-mail will be available at all presentation rooms of the Conference.

Conference Venue

The conference will be held at the Hanoi University of Mining and Geology, which is located on Duc Thang ward, Bac Tu Liem Dist., Hanoi City. The Function Rooms comprise advanced audio-visual systems suitable for international conferences.

Transportation

Hanoi is a major transportation hub of Vietnam, which can be readily assessed by air transportation. Noi Bai international airport, located 30 km north of the city, is connected to all part of the world by direct or connect international flights from major domestic or international transport hubs such as Ho Chi Minh City, Hue, Da Nang, Bangkok, Beijing, Frankfurt, Hong Kong, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Los Angles, Manila, Melbourne, Paris, Singapore, Sydney, Osaka, Seoul, Taipei, etc.

Transportation between airport - hotel and hotel - conference venue and and vice versa will be covered by Hanoi University of Mining and Geology.

Passport and Visa

In accordance with the law of Vietnam, a valid passport is required for all passengers for entry and exit of Vietnam. A valid visa will be required for entry Vietnam, except for citizens from countries which have a bi-lateral or multi-lateral agreement on entry with Vietnam. Upon receiving your registration form, the Organizing Committee will issue you an official invitation letter with corresponding visa reference, which can be used to apply for a visa at the nearest Vietnamese Embassy or Consulate. For those who wish to obtain a visa, please provide us in advance with the individual’s passport number, date of issue, date of expire, nationality, which is needed to be included in the official invitation letter.

An invitation letter of the Organizing Committee will be issued to each registered participant if required.

Insurance

The Conference Organizers will not be responsible for personal accidents or property damage that may occur to participants during the symposium, or tours. All participants are advised to make their own health and travel insurance arrangements before traveling to the Symposium.

Foreign Exchange and Banking

The official currency used in Vietnam is Vietnamese Dong (VND). Exchange offices can be found at airports, hotels, large shopping centers and jewelry shops. The current exchange rate (set by the State Bank of Vietnam) is US$ 1.00 = 23,000 VND and Euro 1.00 = 25,000 VND.

About Ha Noi

Hanoi is a political, economical and cultural centre of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and covers an area of more than 1000 km2 with a population of more than million. Hanoi is ocated on the bank of the Red River with a tropical monsoon climate in which the annual average temperature is around 21.8oC and rainfall of 2,000 mm annually. The city enjoys four season weather condition, in which November falls in the middle of autumn and is considered the most beautiful time of the year with mild temperature, dry air, and flower-blossom filled streets.

With a 1,000-year history, Hanoi is one of the most ancient cities, a destination of trade and cultural exchange of Vietnam in the past and present. It has been honored the title "The City of Peace" by the UNESCO recently. The unique history and geographic location has made Hanoi the site of many famous historical, religious, and cultural relics, as well as museums, with unique foods and picturesque sceneries to explore.

Power Supply

In Vietnam, the standard electrical supply is 220V and 60 Hz with 2 or 3 pin plugs.

Supporting the Symposium

In order to raise sufficient funding to make the Symposium very successful, the Organizing Committee sincerely appreciates any form of support from domestic and international organizations. The following privileges will be given to the supporters:

1. The Organizing Committee will express their gratitude to the supporters at the Opening Ceremony;

2. The names and logos of the supporters and/or supporting agencies will appear on the Symposium web site and published in the “Acknowledgement” of the brochure issued by the Organizing Committee as well as in the Proceedings of the Symposium.


 

Preparation And Submission Of Full Paper

All contributions will be submitted in the form of extended abstracts. Once the extended abstracts are accepted, and after peer review, the contributions will be published in a Proceeding Volume to be made available to the participants at the registration desk of the symposium.

Instructions for Authors

Type your full paper in the template provided. Use the fonts, styles and sizes indicated in the template. Note that a very simple format has been used to minimize potential problems. The template is provided as a Microsoft Word file. Do not exceed 6 pages, using standard A4. The structure of the abstract is as follows:

Content. Subheadings are labeled 1, 2, 3, etc. Second level subheadings should be avoided to save space but if you need them they should be numbered 3.1, 3.2, 3.3 etc. Do not use more than two levels of headings.

Acknowledgements

References. Reference citations in the text and the reference list should follow the style listed in the template. References such as "personal communications" or "unpublished data" cannot be included in the reference list, but should be mentioned in the text in parentheses. Papers which have been accepted for publication should be included in the list of references with the name of the journal and "in press".

Figures: Figures may be presented in colour though they must be entirely comprehensible when printed in grayscale. (The conference proceedings will be published in both printed (black and white only) and digital (pdf) versions. Insert figures in the appropriate place as good quality jpg files in your original word processed document. Each figure needs to be numbered and must have a caption typed by you. Figures should be designed to be legible at either one or two full columns full width. Note that if you design your figures at single column width this will minimize the amount of additional formatting you need to do. Any reference to a figure in the text should be as follows - Figure 1 or (Fig. 1). All figures must be original work of the author(s) – no figures from other works will be accepted even if permission has been obtained to use them.

Tables: Insert tables as appropriate in the text. Word processed tables can only be inserted into one column. If you need to include a full page width table then you should save it as a high quality jpg file first and insert it as though it were a figure. Centre tables in the column/page. Give each table a title. Any reference to a table in the text should be as follows (Table 1).

Saving and Submitting Your Paper: Your paper file should be given a name composed as follows: Preferred session_ Preference for oral (O) or poster (P) _ first author's name_ first 20 characters of title with underscores replacing spaces. For example: VP-01_O_Michael Davison_Geology. Print your file to doc (e.g. VP-01_O_Michael Davison_Geology.doc) and send it to the Organizing Committee and make sure that your files are set to allow text extraction, editing and commenting. Retain and back up your original word processed file to facilitate any revisions that may be required.
